If you and your spouse-to-be love being outdoors, choose a venue that celebrates your passion. As long as you're holding the ceremony during a warm month, you'll have plenty of creative outside spaces from which to choose.

When trying to narrow down a big list of possible outdoor venue locations, consider your favorite places to spend your downtime and vacations. You can also use the place where you met your fiance as a romantic place to say "I do," as long as the location hosts private events.

If you want to have your wedding at a specific type of outdoor location, such as an ocean or lake beach, and there aren't any in your area, a destination is a possibility. Just be sure that the majority of your guests will be able to make it to and from the location, and have adequate places to stay.

No matter what time of year you're having your nuptials, it's still important to rent an event tent, or reserve a venue that offers both indoor and outdoor space, in case of inclement weather. Tents are also a convenient place to store food to keep bugs away.

Following are a few creative outdoor wedding venue options to consider:

1. Baseball or Football Stadium

If you and your spouse-to-be are die-hard football or baseball fans, find out if your favorite team's stadium offers private stadium event space. The high-energy location will be an exciting place for your guests to hang out and explore, and an indoor space such as a conference room may be available as well.

Reserve stadium space as far in advance as possible, especially during the busier times of the year. Inquire as to if they provide on-site catering, or if you'll need to bring your own meals, drinks, and desserts in.

2. Forest Preserves

Nature lovers will feel right at home getting married in a wilderness setting. Depending on your preference, you can hold your wedding among mountains and hills, near a river or other body of water, or in the middle of a forest.

Even the most rustic preserves typically offer a covered pavilion in case of rain, and either modern restrooms or outhouses. You can either have your menu catered, or take advantage of onsite grills and prepare anything from fresh seafood skewers to hamburgers and hot dogs.

Another advantage of forest preserves is that they may offer playgrounds to keep young guests entertained. You can also end the special day with a bonfire if the location allows it.
